You found a room in Amsterdam. The landlord wants to call to discuss availability. You send over your home country number. They never call back. Or maybe you’re in the middle of a job application and a Dutch recruiter asks for a contact number. You give them your international one. The callback never comes. Or you’re trying to close a deal with a Dutch client. You’ve had a few emails back and forth. They ask for a number to call. You send your international one. The conversation goes quiet.
Having a Dutch mobile number before you arrive can help with more than just landlords and recruiters and also with your business needs. It’s also useful for setting up banking, registering with your municipality, and generally making yourself reachable to people who’d rather not dial an international number just to reach you.You could wait until you arrive and look for a local SIM. But when you've already got a hundred other things to sort out, wouldn't it be nice to have one less thing on the list?
That's where a Netherlands virtual phone number can help.
Can you get a Netherlands phone number before arriving?
Absolutely yes. You don't necessarily have to wait until you're in the Netherlands to set up a phone number. Some services let you choose and manage a Dutch mobile number online.
With Cooee, you can get a Netherlands mobile number and manage supported calls and SMS everything in one app.
The important thing is to check what the number actually supports. Some services are designed mainly for calling, while others also support SMS. If you need verification messages, check whether the particular service you're using accepts virtual numbers before relying on it.
A Netherlands number without another physical SIM
You don't need another physical SIM just to have an additional number.
With Cooee, you can manage your Netherlands number through the app while keeping your existing mobile service. You'll need an internet connection to use supported calling and messaging features.
