The Original App Cooee Australia will no longer function as of Aug 2025.
Migrating to Cooee 2.0
Migrating to Cooee Global
Why are we doing this?
Quite simply we want to offer you guys a far better application. When we started Cooee with the mission of helping Aussies abroad maintain connectivity during Covid, we never envisaged we would grow at the pace we’ve seen. Over the last 18 months our customer base has grown 10x and our legacy tech stack simply can’t cope with the increased volumes we are experiencing. We made a decision in 2024 to invest in a more modern reliable product and the good news is you will all benefit. We know you’ll love it because we our testing team are using Cooee 2.0 every day and it’s brilliant!
What will be different?
Everything! Cooee 2.0 has been rebuilt from scratch with a view to massively increasing our coverage and features. You’ll have access to phone numbers from different countries. far more modern and reliable calling technology and a host of new features. Cooee2.0 is the product we wish we could have built when we started. We know you’ll love it because we are already using it every day.
When is this happening?
We are in the final stages of beta testing with final bug fixes expected to be made by the end of April. This means we will start migrating customers across to Cooee Global between May and June this year. Each of you will be notified of your migration date and you can simply download and log into the new application which will mirror your existing set up.
Will there be any service disruption?
You’ll be notified via email when your number will migrate across to the Cooee 2.0 application. That day all you will need to do is log into your new application (using existing credentials) and your number will work. While there may be a small delay as we execute the transfer, we do not envisage any major outages.
Will my number stay the same?
Yes – all your details will carry over into the new app. No changes.
What about pricing?
While we’ve invested a lot into the Cooee 2.0 Application, we will honour each and every one of the contracts with Cooee 1.0. While we can’t guarantee promotional rates will remain the same in perpetuity, we won’t be looking to make any pricing changes to existing contracts in 2025.
Numbers for other countries
Lets get to the good Stuff
US – Howdy!
UK – Tally Ho Old Chap
Canada – Hey Hey Ey!
Netherlands – Hallo!
and last but not least…. a big Cooee for those who want more Australian Numbers
Can i please have Voicemail?
Yes Yes and Yes. Cooee 2.0 has voicemail enabled. We will begin rolling this out in May 2025.
What about call quality?
This has been a consistent challenge with Cooee. Calls don’t always connect and when they do there are drop outs, voice quality issues. You’ll be delighted to hear our new protocols are far more resilient and can transfer voice more efficiently, so even if your connectivity isn’t perfect the experience should be far more satisfying. Don’t get us wrong if you are in an underground carpark we still recommend you wait until you have a clear signal, but quality will still be better than Cooee 1.0.
VPN Please.
Yes Cooee 2.0 will work with a VPN enabled.
Will my SMS history migrate across to the Cooee 2.0 App?
Unfortunately the new Application won’t be linked to the original as it has been developed entirely from scratch on a more modern tech stack. If this is important to you please contact us and we can share a PDF communications history from the last 12 months.
How do I view and manage my subscription?
No changes here. Use the My Account link on in our application and click manage subscription icon. This will show you remaining time under contract and give you the option of de-activating at the end of the upcoming cycle.
What if i was leaving anyway?
No worries – we understand our product may only be needed while you are overseas. You’ll receive a free upgrade regardless to check out the features in the new application, but as always we don’t lock in (although we hope you’ll change your mind).
